Julie Quesada, MA, LMFT

Julie Quesada is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience working with teens, families and adults.  She began her career working in residential treatment with adolescents where she provided clinical case management services to include helping clients connect to resources for aftercare. Julie then moved on to work for an agency that provided services for youth involved in the criminal justice system. While there she provided individual and family therapy as well as ran groups for adolescent girls.  As part of her position she went into homes to provide support. This is where Julie honed her crisis intervention skills. Julie then moved onto a transitional housing program for ages 16-22. Here she provided individual and couples therapy to young adults coping with a variety of issues to include housing insecurity, trauma, addiction and pregnancy. Julie has also worked with adults providing individual and family therapy in a dual diagnosis residential program. Julie for the past 13 years  has been working with students ages 12 to 22 in the San Diego Unified School District. Here she provides individual and family therapy. The primary issues she treats are mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, substance abuse, behavioral problems, ADHD/ADD and sexual trauma. 

Julie believes in the common human experience. She believes every individual has their own story but we all share common emotional experiences and responses. Julie believes that this philosophy helps her to connect and engage her clients in the therapeutic process. She partners with clients to identify their goals and work from a strength based perspective. As a result she is highly collaborative. Julie is a caring, thoughtful professional who believes in helping her clients to increase their insight and awareness and empower them to live their fullest and happiest life. 

Julie is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Bowen family Systems, Motivational Interviewing and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. She is also trauma informed.  She is additionally trained in an evidenced based  treatment called Seeking Safety which addresses both substance abuse and trauma.
