Laurie Chapman, MFT, EMDR Consultant
Laurie Chapman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 35559) and has provided therapy services to individuals, couples, and families for over 25 years. She also served as an adjunct faculty member at San Diego State University in the Marriage and Family Therapy Department, was an All-American Distance Runner in college, and spent 10 years in executive management in a large non-profit corporation. She earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University and received her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a Business Minor from the University of California at Los Angeles campus.
Laurie has received extensive training in the following evidence-based practice therapy models: Strategic, Solution-Focused, Multi-systemic, Cognitive Behavioral, Mindfulness, Trauma Resiliency, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing where she is a Consultant and advises others in this model.
Additionally, Laurie has been a provider and program developer in the addiction and recovery community for 20 years. She has developed several different programs serving Dual Diagnosed clients for the County of San Diego and has been a member of the Grounds therapeutic team for the past 3 years.
Her specialties include the following: trauma, addiction/recovery, young men in transition, women’s issues, mood disorders, couples/families, and athletic performance.
Laurie is an active member of the following associations: the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the EMDR International Association, and the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction.
